FixThat's air cooler services in Delhi start with a ₹249 check-up of the fan, pump, power and tank on any desert, room or tower cooler. A written quote reaches your booking before any repair begins, and that fee comes off the final repair invoice if you approve the work. A scaled pump and blocked pipes get a ₹599 service with descaling, a new wood wool pad is ₹219, and a same-day slot depends on what is open when you book.

For desert, room and tower coolers, a technician visits to trace the fault and shares a written quote before starting any work. Approve the job and your ₹249 comes off the final repair bill.

Your cooler gets a clean, and scale is removed from the water pump and base. Scale from hard water clogs the pump and pipes, so the cooler cools less.

Charged per sq ft, this honeycomb pad is trimmed to your cooler and put in place. Compared with wood wool, it stores more water and has a longer life.

Replaces an old pad, or one that smells, with a new wood wool pad set into your cooler.
Every repair below starts with the same ₹249 check-up. Pick the fault closest to yours, or choose "not sure" if there is more than one.
| What you notice | Likely cause | What to book | Starts at |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fan will not run, or runs very slowly | Failed capacitor, worn motor, stuck blade, faulty switch or regulator | Check-up: fan not working or slow | ₹249 |
| Air blows, but the pads stay dry | Pump failed or clogged, pipe or water distributor blocked | Check-up: water pump not working | ₹249 |
| Pads are wet, but the air is still warm | Clogged pad, closed room, humid weather | Check-up: not cooling | ₹249 |
| Cooler is dead, no air and no sound | Plug, power cord, switch or the socket itself | Check-up: no power | ₹249 |
| Water on the floor under the cooler | Overfilled tank, loose drain plug, badly seated pad, cracked tank | Check-up: water leakage | ₹249 |
| Rattling, grinding or humming | Loose blade or screws, pump running dry, worn motor | Check-up: noise | ₹249 |
| More than one problem, or you cannot tell | Found during the check-up | Check-up: not sure | ₹249 |
| Works, but white scale in the base and weak water flow | Hard water scale and dust from last season | Air cooler service | ₹599 |
| Works, but the pad is old, torn or smelly | Pad past its working life | Add-on: wood wool pad, or honeycomb pad per sq ft | ₹219 or ₹249 |
Plan for about 45 minutes. The check runs through the cooler from the plug to the tank, so a part is not changed on a guess.
A cooler has no gas and no compressor. It cools air by evaporating water, so three things must work together: water on the pad, air through the pad, and a room that lets the damp air leave. Test them in that order before you decide something has broken.
Start with the pad. Makers ask you to run the pump alone before the fan, and Kelvinator says 5 minutes. If the pad is not evenly wet after that, the fault is on the water side, and the next section covers it.
If the pad is wet but the air feels weak, look at what is blocking it. Orient says dust clogs pads and cuts airflow, and Usha says minerals from hard water build up on honeycomb media and restrict air. Delhi homes can expect both, because a dusty summer meets water that is often hard.
If the pad is wet and clean and the fan is strong, the cooler may have no fault at all. Usha says these coolers do better at 60% relative humidity or less. IMD's Safdarjung table for September shows daily humidity from 60% to 76%, so weaker cooling in those weeks is the weather, and a repair will not change it. If you also own an AC, this is when an AC service earns its price.
Check the room too. V-Guard asks for the cooler near a window or door, plus a second opening for warm air to leave, and Orient adds that a room feels stuffy without that ventilation.

The pump sits in the tank and sends water up a pipe to the distributor, which wets the pad from the top. A fault at any point leaves the pad dry and the air warm. Check the tank first, because Usha warns that running on COOL with an empty tank may damage the pump and that a pump short of water gets noisy.
If there is water and the pad still stays dry, the pump may be clogged or dead. Orient says debris can clog the impeller and that brushing it often helps, with a new pump the next step. Kelvinator's fault table lists a damaged pump or calcium deposits on the blower, and V-Guard says hard water can lower the performance of the motor and pump.
That leaves two outcomes. If scale is the only problem, the ₹599 air cooler service covers it: the tank is drained, the base descaled, the pump taken out, descaled and tested, and the pipes and distributor cleared. It ends with a run test, and the whole service takes about 1 hour 30 minutes.
If the pump has failed, a new one goes on your written quote. Part prices are not on the rate card, so you see that price before you agree.

A fan that hums without turning, or starts slower every week, usually has a problem with the capacitor, the motor or the blade. One maker's fault table lists a damaged starting capacitor, a damaged fan and a stuck fan among the causes of low airflow. The check-up looks at all three.
Before you book, note which speeds work and whether the fan fails from the first second or after an hour. That helps the professional separate a switch or regulator fault from a motor fault. Do not push the blade with the cooler plugged in. Kelvinator tells owners to unplug before any maintenance.
If the fan slows while lights dim across the house, suspect the supply instead. Kelvinator asks owners to confirm the voltage matches the rating label, and a loose socket or a wiring fault needs electrical services in Delhi more than a cooler repair.
Look at the water level first. Orient calls overfilling a common cause of leaks and also lists an overfilled ice chamber, pads seated badly after cleaning and cracks in the tank. V-Guard says not to fill past the full mark, and on a tap-fed cooler it limits float valve pressure to 3 kg/cm², so high tap pressure may need plumbing services. If water still appears, the check-up looks at the tank, tray and drain plug.
For noise, go by the kind of sound. Orient links rattling or vibration to a loose or misaligned blade or loose screws, and grinding or humming to a worn motor. A buzzing that stops when you refill the tank is a pump running dry, which Kelvinator and Usha both describe.
A new cooler's honeycomb pad has an odour that fades within a week, according to Usha and V-Guard. In an older cooler, both makers point to algae: change the water and clean the pad. Orient describes a fishy smell from dirty pads. Kelvinator's answer for an old cooler is a new pad, but skip the bleach, as V-Guard says not to add bleaching agents to the tank.
For a dead cooler, plug something else into the same socket. If that fails too, the fault is the socket or the house supply. Orient lists a broken fuse, a tripped breaker and a damaged cord as the usual reasons. Kelvinator says not to switch on with a damaged cord or loose socket.
Treat a tingle from the body as a stop sign. Switch off at the MCB, keep your hands dry and do not touch the cooler again until it has been checked. Water and a metal body raise the stakes. V-Guard says the case must be earthed through the power cord, and it tells owners to disconnect the supply before filling water or opening the pads.
The cooler check-up covers the plug, cord, switches and regulator. House earthing and the distribution board are an electrician's work, so book electrical services if the fault lies there. V-Guard asks for the cooler to run through an ELCB and an MCB, and BSES advises a separate earth pit for each house. Kelvinator also asks for a dedicated socket with no T junction.
These figures help you tell a fault from the weather and the water. The hardness ranges come from ground water samples in Central Ground Water Board booklets for Delhi districts, with maps from 2012. Piped water can be softer, so treat them as a guide to risk, mainly for homes on a borewell. Makers differ on cleaning, so follow your own manual first.
These are not repairs. The service and the pad add-ons suit a cooler that runs but has lost its strength. Honeycomb pads hold more water and last longer than wood wool. A cooler with pads on more than one side needs more than one, so confirm the count and the total before fitting.
| What you book | Price | Time | What is done |
|---|---|---|---|
| Air cooler service | ₹599 | 1 hr 30 mins | Tank drained, base descaled, pump descaled and tested, pipes and distributor cleared, blade and grill cleaned, run test |
| Wood wool pad | ₹219 | 10 mins | Old pad removed and new pad fitted |
| Honeycomb pad | ₹249 per sq ft | 15 mins | Pad cut to your cooler's frame, old pad removed and new pad fitted |
Most cooler parts can be changed: the pump, capacitor, switch, swing motor and pad. So the body usually decides. Orient says a sealer on small holes is only a temporary fix and a badly damaged tank needs replacing, and a tank that far gone is the usual reason to buy new.
Compare the written quote with the price of a new cooler, and check your warranty card before you approve anything. V-Guard's Airotron series, for example, carries a 2-year warranty on the motor and pump. If you do buy new, ask the shop whether the model meets IS 3315:2024, the current BIS standard for desert coolers.
FixThat repairs carry a 30-day warranty, so tell us through your booking if the same fault returns in that time. Ask for the terms when you book. FixThat is run by ProNearMe, which means your booking, prices and support all come from the same team.

The check-up is ₹249 for any fault. Any part or repair is then priced in a written quote on your booking. Part prices are not on the rate card, so read the quote before you approve.
Not if you go ahead. The ₹249 is adjusted in the final repair invoice when you approve the work.
It can happen, but it depends on the slots open for your address, and the booking page shows them.
Book the check-up when something has stopped working. Book the ₹599 service when the cooler runs but flow is weak, scale is visible or it has not been cleaned since last season. The service does not include new parts.
Damp air takes up less water, so the cooler cannot drop the temperature much. Usha sets the useful limit at 60% relative humidity, and Delhi's September range starts there and climbs to 76%. Keep the windows open, and judge the cooler again on a dry day before you book a repair.
The national vector control handbook says to empty, scrub and dry coolers every week before refilling. Symphony suggests draining and refilling every 2 to 3 days in season, especially in humid regions. In the Delhi monsoon, treat the weekly scrub as the minimum.
Makers differ. Symphony suggests a vinegar and water mix or a mild descaler, while V-Guard says not to use cleaning chemicals such as detergents and abrasives. Follow your own manual, try a small hidden spot first, and unplug the cooler before you open any panel.
Not always. Usha says the pump makes noise when there is little or no water in the tank. Refill it first. If the noise continues with a full tank, book the check-up under noise.
Switch off at the MCB and do not touch it. A damaged cord and poor earthing are the first things to rule out. The check-up covers the cord and plug, and an electrician handles the earthing in the house.
It depends on the model. V-Guard says the Airotron works on inverters, while Kelvinator lists inverter compatibility model by model. Check your manual before relying on it.
Yes. The check-up covers desert, room and tower coolers, with the same fee for each.
V-Guard says to drain the water completely and dry the pads before storage. Symphony adds that the pads should dry in the shade, and that the cooler should be unplugged, covered and kept dry. If you use wood wool, the national handbook says not to reuse old grass next season.
